![]() HELMI is a physical, visual, touching and beautiful performance of a lady called Helmi (Pearl), an elderly woman who used to be an admired snakewoman of her times. Helmi is also a piece about a woman called Henna, a contortionist who is afraid of giving up and letting go, performing. Helmi is an experience of addiction to the adrenalin and applause, about the ageing body, balancing and limits, in performing and in life. The performance tells its story between the fictional character Helmi and the real performer Henna. The story is told by physical acting, acrobatics and choreography, sound design, written texts, spoken texts and video projections. Performed & directed by Henna Kaikula Original music by Guy Dowsett & Jacob Cartwright Video Projections: Jegi Pekkala Photo [above]: Heidi Strengell |
